Secondary Trauma and workplace Stress

Working with children who have experienced trauma can be stressful. This session explains why this workplace stress arises, specifically out of working with childhood trauma. It enables learners to identify their own personal resources to reduce vulnerability and promote resilience, and to understand how to create strong networks to maintain the wellbeing of everyone in the workforce. Understanding and awareness of secondary trauma and how it may bring about workplace stress can be improved for the wellbeing of all. Secondary trauma and workplace stress doesn’t have to feature. Our session course explains why and how to reduce the risks to staff teams. This session will cover: • Emotional trauma • Identifying secondary traumatic stress • The signs and indicators of secondary stress • How to develop self-care • How to recover from secondary trauma
